CRRF welcomes its newest team members!
We welcome Communications Manager, Maria Garcia and Atlantic Regional Coordinator, Kevin Harrison
Maria Garcia, Communications Manager (Social Media)
Maria holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from York University and post-graduate certificates in Digital Marketing/Social Media and Project Management.
Maria has worked in the non-profit sector for many years and is well versed in community organizing, communications and outreach. She sat on the board for Out Of Bounds, an organization that works with those affected by gun violence and mentors Latinx youth in her community through the initiative Teach2Learn and contributes to the Downsview Advocate with her column “Humans of Downsview” which highlights different folks and community leaders.
Maria has worked as a political staffer for a Member of Provincial Parliment and later as an Outreach Officer and Politcal Organizer. In her free time she likes to spend time with her cat, Rio.
Kevin Harrison, Regional Coordinator (Atlantic)
Kevin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, majoring in Political Science, and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, through the University of King’s College prestigious one-year journalism program. He has dedicated the majority of his career working for environmental non-profits. In addition, he has also worked for the former Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada, including other local politicians. He has also worked for health organizations and most recently an Africentric Institute that focuses on education and research.
He is a former Board member of Nova Multifest, an annual event celebrating multiculturalism in Canada, and is passionate about race relations, and achieving general equality for everyone.
When he isn’t dedicated his time to CRRF, he can be found writing about cars, going for hikes and working at a local dairy farm. He looks forward to working with CRRF to continue and to build on the successes of the organization.
