Le Centre culturel Woodland a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 en octobre 1972 sous la direction de l’Association des iroquois et autochtones alli\u00e9s \u00e0 la fermeture du pensionnat autochtone Mohawk. Le Centre culturel Woodland sert \u00e0 pr\u00e9server et \u00e0 promouvoir l’histoire, l’art, la langue et la culture indig\u00e8nes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les r\u00e9centes \u00ab\u00a0d\u00e9couvertes\u00a0\u00bb concernant les enfants des pensionnats sont une nouvelle pour beaucoup d’entre nous, mais pour beaucoup d’autres, cette r\u00e9alit\u00e9 a marqu\u00e9 des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations. Nous esp\u00e9rons que cette visite apportera plus de contexte, de profondeur et de sensibilisation \u00e0 ces exp\u00e9riences v\u00e9cues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La FCRR, en partenariat avec le Centre culturel Woodland, organisera une visite virtuelle du pensionnat Mohawk le 3 mars 2022 \u00e0 13:30h HNE<\/strong>. Cette vid\u00e9o de visite virtuelle a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e avec la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de production locale Thru the Reddoor, et elle suit un guide qui fait visiter l’ancien pensionnat autochtone du Mohawk Institute. Au cours de la vid\u00e9o, le guide pr\u00e9sente l’histoire de l’\u00e9tablissement au cours de ses 140 ans d’existence. Les t\u00e9l\u00e9spectateurs pourront voir les diff\u00e9rentes pi\u00e8ces de l’\u00e9cole, les dortoirs des filles et des gar\u00e7ons, la caf\u00e9t\u00e9ria, la buanderie et d’autres pi\u00e8ces du b\u00e2timent, et \u00e9couter les interviews de cinq survivants du pensionnat Mohawk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
