The CRRF welcomes Raymond Tynes as a member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors

The CRRF welcomes Raymond Tynes to the Foundation as an addition to the Board of Directors effective March 4, 2020 for a term of three years. Tynes is currently a Commissioner with the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission. He served as the first African Nova Scotian municipal town councillor in Truro for 12 years and through this was a member of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and worked with the FCM and UNESCO promoting “Coalition of Municipalities against Racism”. Mr. Tynes served as the African Nova Scotia school board member for four years and has also served as Board member and interim executive director of the Colchester Community Workshop, which offers programs to individuals living with intellectual disabilities. As an advocate and former small business owner, Mr. Tynes has spent over 40 years promoting “Equity and Equally” and understanding Respecting “Cultural Diversity” and it is still a priority. Mr. Tynes is a recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and was presented with the Dr. Burnley “Rocky” Jones Human Rights Award in 2016. In 2013, he was an invited guest to the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Movement in Birmingham Alabama addressing large audiences about the state of Civil Rights and Race and Gender Relations in Canada specifically in Nova Scotia. His education includes Governance, Business, Human and Civil Rights. Raymond G. Tynes and his wife currently live in Truro Nova Scotia.
