Hassan Ahmad 

Hassan M. Ahmad is a lawyer, law professor, advocate, and community leader. He teaches at Osgoode Hall Law School, where he also researches topics around corporate governance, business and human rights, dispute resolution processes, and access to justice for marginalized communities. As a litigator, he has represented Indigenous communities, refugees, and inmates in the courts and continues to advocate on behalf of these groups. He holds a doctorate from the University of Toronto, a master’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a law degree from Osgoode Hall. Before joining Osgoode Hall as a faculty member, Hassan was a law professor at UBC. He also worked at leading law firms in Toronto and at the International Criminal Court in The Netherlands. Hassan is frequently invited to present his research at academic forums in Canada and abroad. His work and commentary have also appeared in a number of media outlets such as The Globe and Mail, CBC News, CTV News, The Toronto Star, The Vancouver Sun, The Winnipeg Free Press, and Al Jazeera, among others. Previously, he sat on the board of the Waterfront Community Centre in Toronto and volunteered with The Citizens Foundation, a charity that builds schools in South Asia. Aside from work, Hassan is the proud father of a boy and a girl. When he is not coaching or chauffeuring his children, he enjoys running, biking, and cooking.
