We Are Still Here: CRRF Celebrates National Indigenous History Month
This June, the Canadian Race Relations Foundation (CRRF) celebrates National Indigenous History Month. We will take the time to honour rich and diverse cultures, traditions, histories, and significant contributions of Canada’s First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people. We will also use this opportunity to share the names, faces, and voices of Indigenous people who are this nation’s foundation. CRRF will also bring focus to the unique issues that our Indigenous population has faced both historically and in the present and the ways in which we all need to work together to overcome and reconcile them.
CRRF will highlight 20 Indigenous activists, educators, and community leaders who have made a difference in their local communities. If you are craving a learning experience, the CRRF will be presenting four books during June for our “Necessary Reading” series to focus on Indigenous literature and history. We’ll conclude the month with a discussion on the challenges of environmental racism and treaty rights with a group of Indigenous scholars and activists.
We hope that will be an enriching and enlightening experience that will propel you to expand your knowledge, share, and act.
