As part of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation’s commitment to walking the path of reconciliACTION alongside Indigenous peoples in Canada, we aim to promote dialogue and support reconciliACTION efforts.
In the fall of 2025, the CRRF supported a dialogue between the Yellowknife Women’s Society (YKWS) and representatives of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in response to the systemic discrimination and lack of trust and safety Indigenous women in Yellowknife have experienced with the RCMP, documented in the YKWS report Over-policed and Under-protected: Recommendations to improve the relationship between unhoused Indigenous women and the RCMP in Yellowknife.
As a result of this dialogue, a joint statement has been developed between the YKWS, the RCMP, and the CRRF to guide concrete steps towards addressing the issues raised in the report.
The CRRF is committed to walking with Indigenous organizations toward more culturally-responsive justice solutions.
